The Friendly Invasion – a special summer festival to mark the 25 years the Ernest Harmon US Air Force Base operated in Stephenville, starting in World War II.
The great friendship between the local people and the American visitors was fondly remembered in 2016 through fabulous musical shows from the period, a new heritage trail on the base, dramatic re-creations and much more.
So residents decided: why not continue celebrating the “friendliest invasion” ever to take place in Canada? The summer of 2017 will have even more activities available for residents and visitors alike.
Stephenville is FUNville for summer 2017, the 150th anniversary of Canada. Local activities will include the Stephenville MusicFest, a fifties musical show, the Base Commander Bus Tour, musical dinner theatre, Tales from a One Room School, Tea Biscuits and Jam, historic vignettes and more. Don’t forget to take advantage of the ancient fossil sites, spectacular hiking trails, and the great shops and restaurants.
Don’t miss out on your chance to join in the Happy Days this summer in the beautifully temperate climate and scenic excursions in Bay St. George. The schedule will be “chock-a-block” full from July 20 to August 22. Tickets will be available online starting May 1!
